French Navy - Camera Obscura - My Maudlin Career

Enjoy something new from Camera Obscura that I found via Hype Machine and Tumblr this afternoon.  The album comes out on Tuesday and I hope it’s as good as their 2006 release “Let’s Get Out of This Country”.

Camera Obscura - “French Navy”

A college buddy of mine (hey Siler!) used to describe Camera Obscura as “twee as ****”, and I’d say that’s about right. Perfect pop hooks (complete with horns!), cute lyrics, and adorable harmonies are the defining characteristics of this Glasgow, Scotland band. So it should come as no surprise that the first single and lead-off track from their upcoming album My Maudlin Career (being released April 20th on 4AD records), “French Navy”, is a perfect spring ditty about love. Now, if I could just get the weather outside to actually feel like spring, I’d be all set.
